Ali Azmat (b.1973) lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan. He was awarded an MA at the University of Punjab, Lahore. In his first exhibition outside of Pakistan, entitled Moorat meaning ‘face’ or ‘portrait’, Azmat presents a series of paintings depicting the eunuchs or hijras of Lahore. These works seek to unmask their mythical world and identity in Pakistani society.
